I'm a huge Terminator fan, and I'll never forget a high school friend of mine who invited me over to watch a movie he had on VHS. He said you got to see this movie. I never saw him so excited about a movie and it got me super curious.
I remember it was the 80s, but I can't remember the exact date for some reason. Anyways, he pops in the VHS and the movie is called TERMINATOR. The movie kept me on the edge of my seat and it was one of the greatest sci-fi movies I'd ever seen. I realize now, that the effects look dated, but back then, I thought it was astounding.
And then later on, in the early 90s I went to see Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and was blown away. Back then, the movie theater was packed, and I was sitting near the back, because all the other seats were taken, but the movie was epic and terrifying. This movie made me contemplate humanity, technology, robots, and my own future. I thought James Cameron was way ahead of his time, and I still think the same thing about him today.
I want to stop here with mentioning anymore TERMINATOR movies, with the exception of the new TERMINATOR DARK FATE, because one and two are my favorites, and I just don't want to taint the memories of those films. I know many will say they love T2 the best and I totally get that, but I just got to pay homage to the first TERMINATOR as well as the second.
Today, I just got done watching TERMINATOR DARK FATE, and I thought it was okay, and that's it. Or is it? I might as well add something or this article will be way too short. What I liked about TERMINATOR DARK FATE was that Arnold Schwarzenegger was reprising his role and most importantly, Linda Hamilton. I was surprised to see she was going to do another one, but she read the script and jumped on board, which got me interested.
Amazingly, if you dig into the period (1984 TERMINATOR) where James Cameron was looking for a lead character, a friend of his mentioned Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold was not the fist choice and James Cameron was not too interested in him, but after meeting him, he changed his mind and he could see Arnold playing a believable TERMINATOR, but not a Kyle Reese. I also found out that Linda Hamilton did not want to work with Arnold Schwarzenegger either, so what gives?
If you've seen Arnold's past movies and I mean going way back, before TERMINATOR, he was not the greatest actor. He looked cool and his body was incredible for CONAN, but could he pull off a really good acting role. Personally, I think he nailed TERMINATOR, and that he plays a fantastic robot. In fact, playing TERMINATOR actually played to what others would consider his weak points, such as his accent, and his acting skills, but Arnold Schwarzenegger rose above it all in the role of the TERMINATOR. One thing I respect about Arnold is that when everybody said he couldn't do it, he believed in himself and DID IT ANYWAY.
In fact, Arnold Schwarzenegger has a menacing, horrifying presence about him as the TERMINATOR. Not to mention, he had a huge powerfully looking body and spoke with with an accent, which worked like a charm for the TERMINATOR, and made it memorable. In conclusion, I would say check out TERMINATOR DARK FATE if you have nothing else to do and some extra money. If you don't have some money to throw to the wind, then wait for it as a rental.
In the words of Kyle Reese, "Listen, and understand. That terminator is out there, it cant be bargained with, it cant be reasoned with, it doesn't feel pity or remorse or fear, and it absolutely will not stop...EVER, until you are dead!"
At ThatsBizarreGifts.net, you'll find a direct link to original theater-used movie posters. I used to collect originals, mainly horror from the 80s and sell them, but that was years ago.
One of the best places to get an original 27" x 40" TERMINATOR movie poster from 1984 is Cinemasterpieces.com. You can possibly get TERMINATOR DARK FATE theater-used as well.
This is one of the few websites on the Internet that has originals. Watch out for movie poster knock offs claiming to be originals or theater-used, when all they really are is re-prints. I used to see quite a few knock offs on eBay years ago, but I haven't looked lately.
I've personally purchased from CineMasterpieces.com, and I can attest to the authenticity of their posters. If you click the TERMINATOR movie poster link it will take you straight to Cinemasterpieces.com.
Simply use their search box to find your "original / theater-used" TERMINATOR movie poster. Buying a popular original movie poster like the TERMINATOR might just turn out to be a great investment, where someday down the road you can resell it for a profit, and guess what, that's what I did!
